In today’s article we will explain the steps you need to take to cut a leather belt and the tools you will need for it;)
Time to get out a pen and paper and get ready for a little knowledge.
In the Factory of belts we are exclusively focused on belts made by hand of genuine leather from Igualada (Spain) cut to size.
As the name implies, custom cut straps require manual cutting for a completely custom fit.
If you own off-the-shelf belts that are too big or too small due to the hole location, you will love our cut-to-size belts. Here is a step by step guide:
Tools you will need to cut the belt:
- Pencil
- Screwdriver
- Tape measure
- Sharp Scissors
- Sharp-tipped knife
Step-by-step guide to cutting a belt:
1. Wrap the belt around your waist and measure the excess leather. We recommend measure up to the middle buckle hole .


On the other hand if you want cut the belt to an exact size here is an article related to belt sizes and their associated centimeters.
2.Attach the flat strap with the screw facing up. Time to break that Phillips screwdriver.


3.Unscrew the buckle from the waist strap.


4.Remove the buckle from the waist strap. Don’t lose that screw!


5.Using the previously measured dimensions from step 1, mark the additional leather.


Take out some heavy scissors and cut off the excess leather where you marked.


7.Using a sharp knife, cut a whole in the middle of the waist strap. This is where will reattach the buckle .


8.Insert the waist strap back into the buckle and screw it back on.


And there you have it. The perfect belt in less than 5 minutes .
